Terms of Service

1Acceptance

Welcome to CharGem (the "Service"), provided by Next Star AI ("we"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Accounts must be created by a parent or guardian of legal age. If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use the Service.

2What the Service is

The Service is a learning app that helps children learn to read and write Chinese characters — with flashcards, stroke-order practice, write-from-memory quizzes, games, spaced-repetition review, and a parent progress report. It covers commonly-taught characters for grades 1–6.

3Accounts & parental responsibility

• Accounts are created and controlled by a parent; child profiles are added and managed by the parent.
• Keep your login details safe; you're responsible for activity under your account.
• You're responsible for supervising your child's use, including friend interactions.

4Acceptable use

When using the Service, do not:

• Use it for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others' rights.
• Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its data.
• Harass, bully, or harm anyone through the friends feature.
• Access the Service in bulk, in an automated way, or in any way that harms it.

5Friends & social conduct

Children can only connect by exchanging a friend code, and can only send preset cheer stickers/emojis — there is no free-text chat. Shared information is limited to a nickname, avatar, and learning stats (gems, streak, level). You can remove a friend at any time. See the Privacy Policy for details.

6Purchases & subscriptions

Grade 1 is free. Access to Grades 2–6 is a paid upgrade. Prices and billing terms (including whether a purchase is one-time or an auto-renewing subscription) are shown clearly at the point of purchase before you pay. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by that store and governed by its terms; auto-renewing subscriptions renew until cancelled, and you can manage or cancel them in your store account settings. Web purchases are processed by our payment provider. Except where required by law or store policy, payments are non-refundable.

7Content & intellectual property

The Service's interface, design, and overall arrangement belong to Next Star AI. Character shapes and stroke-order animation data come from publicly available open resources; example words and definitions come from public dictionary datasets. This learning content is for study reference; stroke order and readings are shown per common standards and may differ slightly from a specific textbook edition — please defer to your child's textbook and teacher.

8Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is," as a learning aid, without a guarantee that content is error-free, uninterrupted, or always available. Pronunciation uses your device's built-in speech, whose quality varies by device. We work to keep content accurate but are not responsible for learning decisions made from using the Service.

9Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Next Star AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

10Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your child's profile or account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access in cases of misuse or breach of these Terms.

11Changes

If these Terms change materially, we'll update the date here and notify you in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
